BMW R 1200 RT motorcycle 2009BMW R1200 and K1200 motorcycles made from August ’06 through May ’09 are being recalled because of the front brake hydraulic line.  “THE BRAKE LINE COULD SPLIT AND START TO DEVELOP A LEAK” because of the way it is routed and due to the strain and vibration is is exposed to.  If the brake line leaks, then the front brakes may not work and a crash could result.

To fix this, beginning in July 2010, BMW will notify their dealers and owners and will install new brake lines at no charge.  The new brake lines will have a sleeve.  Owners can contact BMW 1-800-525-7417 for more information, or the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration at 1-888-327-4236 (NHTSA campaign 10V276000).
