The annual Kyle Petty Charity Ride is preparing to roll out of Indian Wells, CA on May 1st to mark a return in 2010 to the coast-to-coast motorcycle tour that the ride has been known for.  This year, it will venture all the way from California to Victory Junction in North Carolina.

In 2008, I personally had the pleasure to attend the Kyle Petty Charity Ride visit in Charlotte, NC at the Ballantyne Resort Hotel.   It was an unforgettable experience for me as I witnessed the good that motorcyclists, celebrities, and everyday people can do when they work together.

The 2010 Kyle Petty Charity Ride schedule is: May 1, Saturday, Depart: Indian Wells, CA and stay overnight in North Las Vegas, NV.  May 2, Sunday ride to Richfield, UT.  May 3rd, Monday to Durango, CO.  May 4, Tuesday stop overnight in Amarillo, TX.  May 5th, Wednesday, stop overnight in Texarkana, TX.  May 6th, Thursday stop overnight in Choctaw, MS.  May 7th, Friday overnight in Chattanooga, TN. May 8th, Saturday overnight in Asheville, NC.  May 9th, Sunday reach the finish at Victory Junction in Randleman, NC.

Everyone can participate on a “virtual ride” at www.kylepettycharityride.com to see videos, photos, and more from the ride.

Listening to the speakers during the stop at Charlotte, including Kyle Petty himself, and hearing about the many innovative and fun ways that donations were raised by the ride and it’s volunteers, I was able to learn how this motorcycle charity ride truly changes the lives of those that benefit from the donations.

The Kyle Petty Charity Ride and it’s sponsors also present significant donations to various local charities along the ride’s route.  This annual motorcycle event really is much, much more than a cross-country motorcycle ride!  It gets involved with and benefits more kids, families and charities than the general public may see or hear beyond the rumble of all the motorcycles.
