BMW has announced that it is recalling the 2008 model of their F650GS and the 2009 model of their F800GS.
According to BMW, there may be a problem with the way the chain sprocket fasteners were installed. The amount of torque applied to them may have varied. This may cause these fasteners to become loose from the sprocket while riding. If this happens, there is a risk of crashing.
The remedy is for dealers to inspect the sprocket fasteners and replace damaged ones. The recall began January 2009.
