Allegro Foundation visits White House

Friends of the Kyle Petty Charity Ride, the Allegro Foundation …a champion for children with disabilities, performs at the White House in Washington, DC on Saturday December 6, 2008. When yours truly from this Motorcycle Information site went to visit the Kyle Petty Charity Ride at the Ballantyne Resort in Charlotte, NC this summer, I had the pleasure of watching  the folks from the ride, including Kyle, present a donation to the Allegro Foundation.

What was even better, was watching the children from Allegro Foundation perform a song and dance show for Kyle and all the folks that attended the event at the resort among the hundreds of motorcycles parked nearby.

This is actually the fourth time for Allegro Foundation to perform at the White House. In 2005, they became the very first organization of children with disabilities to ever perform there.

The Charlotte-based Allegro Foundation …a champion for children with disabilities was founded by Charlotte native, Ms. Pat Farmer, and is a continuation of the Pacific Foundation for the Performing Arts in Los Angeles. It is easy to see why the Kyle Petty Charity Ride was happy to help these wonderful children. The enthusiasm and energy they showed at the charity ride stop was terrific and also very touching.

A great bonus that comes along with being a motorcyclist is that there are plenty of opportunities to enjoy riding with friends and to make new friends while raising some money for charities.

You don’t have to do a ride as far as the Kyle Petty Charity Ride does to participate. You also don’t have to have a Harley-Davidson Road King or a Victory Vision motorcycle to join in. Just ask at you local motorcycle shop what charity rides are coming up near you, sign up for one, and go have fun.
